Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder Alleged Shooting Male Who Had Shot and Killed Another Male in Orlando

Orlando Police Department announced Tuesday, Augusts 18, 2026, the arrest of Alan Vernon Florvilus in connection with a March 4, 2026 homicidal shooting incident in the MetroWest area.

Alan Vernon Florvilus, 24, was apprehended in Tampa.

Detectives determined Florvilus allegedly shot and seriously wounded Roderick Barron during a confrontation that involved Roderick Barron fatally shooting Howard Bennett.

Investigators determined Roderick Barron fatally shot Howard Bennett in self-defense while Bennett attempted to draw a firearm on Roderick Barron. During the homicidal shooting, Florvilus was a second shooter in the incident, who shot Roderick Barron, seriously wounding him.

Florvilus is charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder.
